Individuals residing in Germany, especially those living in Bayren and Baden-Württemberg can apply for a Visa to travel to Afghanistan at this mission.
Due to regulatory restrictions, we can only issue Single Entry visas valid for a one-month stay. Exceptions apply to Business Visas, which can be issued for a period of up to three years with multiple entries.
For those intending to stay in Afghanistan for more than one month, visa extensions can be requested from the Consulate Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul.
Important Information and Instructions
- Appointment: Applicants are required to request an appointment. The Visa cannot be processed or issued in the absence of the applicants, via post or online.

- Applications are accepted during the Consulate’s official working days and hours.
Required Documents
To apply for the Visa, the following documents are required:
- Visa Application Form: The form must be fully completed, typed, and signed. You can download it [here].
- Passport Validity: Applicants’ passports must be valid for at least six months and must contain blank pages.
- Those traveling for employment or business purposes must provide documentation from their current or prospective employer, or the relevant organization, verifying the purpose of the visit. Additionally, they must include an authorization reference number issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan.
- Proof of Employment in Germany.
- Proof of German ID Card: Applicants must provide a copy of their Personalausweis/German ID Card [Sample] (both side – showing the name and address of the holders).
- Two Passport-Size Photographs: Applicants must provide two recently taken photos with a white background. Photo Requirements and [Sample].
- Fee: Visa processing fee (refer to visa fees table and payment method below).
- Pre-paid Registered Envelope: Include a pre-paid registered envelope with your address clearly printed as the receiver. This will be used to send back your passport.
If you cannot provide a pre-paid envelope, transfer an additional €10 to cover postal services and attach the receipt with your application.

Payments can be made via bank card. Please note that credit cards are not acceptable.
Tourist Visa:
Applicants for Tourist Visas must provide additional documents, including:
- An invitation letter from a sponsor or tour company.
- Confirmed flight and accommodation bookings.
- Travel insurance.
- A bank statement demonstrating sufficient funds to cover travel and stay in Afghanistan.
If visiting family or friends, please include a letter of introduction specifying whom you plan to visit in Afghanistan. Alternatively, a letter from a reliable official, a duly registered entity in Afghanistan, or an authorization letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul is required.
Media Personnel/Journalists:
Media personnel or journalists must submit an introduction letter outlining the purpose, duration, and locations of their visit in Afghanistan.
Official Visits:
For official visits, the applicant’s employer must provide a letter of introduction detailing the purpose of the visit. This letter should be sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan in Kabul, which will issue an authorization to the Consulate General for visa processing.
Additional Information for Specific Purposes:
- Family Visits: If visiting family or friends, include a letter of introduction stating whom you intend to visit in Afghanistan.
- Tourism: Clearly state the purpose of your tour and provide details about the places you plan to visit in Afghanistan.
- Employment: For employment purposes, submit an official letter of introduction from your employer or sponsoring organization, specifying the purpose and duration of your trip.
Note: Applicants for a work visa must be below the retirement age of 65 and are required to include educational documents, along with an invitation or introduction letter from their employer in Afghanistan.
Eligibility for Afghanistan Visa:
All foreign nationals are eligible to apply for an Afghan visa, except under the following circumstances:
- Incomplete Ban Period: The applicant has not yet completed a previously imposed ban period.
- Security and Ethical Concerns: The applicant is suspected of actions that could disrupt security or public order, moral corruption, or disrespect for Afghanistan’s cultural norms and values.
- Discretion of Consular Authorities: In exceptional cases, consular or diplomatic authorities of Afghanistan may deny a visa based on sound and justified reasons.
- Health Risks: The applicant poses a risk of spreading a contagious disease.
- Decision by Competent Authorities:
The competent authorities have issued a directive to deny the visa.
This policy ensures that visa issuance aligns with Afghanistan’s national interests and public safety.
Issuance of the Visa:
The Visa will be issued on after the completion of the following steps:
In-Person Interview: Applicants must attend a mandatory interview at the Consulate, where their Visa Application will be verified based on the submitted documents and information provided during the application.
