Nationals of Afghanistan residing in Germany, especially those living in Bavaria (Bayren) and Baden-Württemberg can apply for a new Passport at this Consulate.
Important Information and Instructions
- The applicant must visit the Consulate in person. The new passport cannot be processed in the absence of the applicants or via post or online.

Required Documents
- Completed Application Form: The new passport form can be downloaded [Here].
- Verified Dari/English Tazkira: Submit a certified copy of your Dari/English Tazkira, verified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan or e-Tazkira [Sample].
- Old Passport: If you have a previous Afghan passport, you must bring it with you. In case of loss, a police report and payment of the loss penalty are required.
- Child Born in Germany: Submit the child’s birth certificate [Sample] along with the parents’ marriage certificate, Tazkira, or passports (both father and mother).
- Photo Requirements: You must provide two biometric passport-size photos that meet the following criteria [Sample]:
- Size: 4.5 x 3.5 cm
- Background: Plain white, without shadows
- Quality: High resolution, clear and sharp, without any creases or marks
- Expression: Neutral facial expression, mouth closed, eyes open, and looking directly at the camera
- Glasses: Not allowed (unless for medical reasons with a doctor’s certificate)
- Age of Photo: Must be recent (not older than 6 months)
- Proof of German Resident permit: Submit a copy of your Aufenthaltstitel/Personalausweis [Sample] (both side – showing the name and address of the passport holder).
- Fee & Payment: The cost of a 5-year passport is €120, and a 10-year passport costs €220. Payment is only accepted via bank card at the mission; credit cards are not accepted.
- Pre-paid Registered Envelope: Include a pre-paid registered envelope with your address clearly printed as the receiver. This will be used to send back your passport.
If you cannot provide a pre-paid envelope, transfer an additional €10 to cover postal services and attach the receipt with your application.

Important Notes
- Holders of previous Machine Readable Passports (MRP) may apply for a validity extension here.
- If you do not have a passport to renew, cannot fulfill the requirements for a new passport, and have been asked by German authorities to provide one, please apply for a Negative Confirmation for Passport Application accordingly.
- Important: Do not send cash by post under any circumstances.
- Important: Do not send your original Tazkira (ID card).
