Information for obtaining Document Attestation/Verification and Authentication

The Consulate General provides attestation, verification, and authentication services for various documents, including educational diplomas, marriage certificates, celibacy certificates, birth certificates, death certificates, business documents, and other official records.

Documents Issued in Afghanistan

If a document has been issued in Afghanistan and has already been attested by the Consulate Affairs Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, the Consulate General will attest it free of charge.

Documents Issued in Germany:

For documents issued in Germany, prior attestation by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs or the relevant Cantonal authorities is required before submission to this Consulate General for attestation.

Required Documents for Verification of Documents:
  1. Request Letter: The applicant must submit a formal request letter addressed to this Consulate, clearly stating the purpose and necessity for the verification, attestation, or authentication of the document(s).
  2. Original Documents and Copies: The applicant must provide both the original and a copy of the document(s) to be attested, verified, or authenticated.
  3. Proof of German Resident Permit: Submit a copy of your Aufenthaltstitel/Personalausweis [Sample] (both side – showing the name and address of the passport holder).
  4. Fee: Service fees varies depending on the type of the document. Please refer to the fee rates table for attesting/verifying/authenticating different types of documents.
  5. Payment Proof (for postal applications): If submitting by post, transfer the fee to the Consulate’s bank account (details below) and attach proof of payment.
  6. Pre-paid Registered Envelope: Include a pre-paid registered envelope with your address clearly printed as the receiver. This will be used to send back your Document(s).
    If you cannot provide a pre-paid envelope, transfer an additional €10 to cover postal services and attach the receipt with your application.
Application Submission Options
  • In Person:
    Submit your application during working hours. Payment can only be made via bank card at the mission. Please note that credit cards are not acceptable.
  • Applications are accepted during the Consulate’s official working days and hours.
